Philip and Merna on January 20, 2002 |
|
We don't usually dress up so fancy but one doesn't get married everyday.
Thank you to MJ, Jim, Dan, and Erin Wainwright for volunteering their home and garden for our wedding event! |

This is a Mount Madonna just up the mountain from Gilroy, California. |
|
I attended a conference held at a retreat site located on Mount Madonna. The retreat was "Harnessing Surprise." About 100 people from all over the world came to explore this wonderful concept. When next the call comes to gather I will announce the call on this website. |

Tiananmen Square--Courage in Action |
|
There is a mystery about this young man who made history with your couragous act. No one knows who he is or what has happened to him. For a few moments he stood up to repressive forces and inspired ethical people everywhere to do the same. Would you stand up to a tank for peace? |

Biscuit is her name. |

This lovely calico cat was abandoned in Irvine and has made a new home with me and Merna. We think she is about four years old. She loves to live inside with us. |

Freckles and Patches with Teamster Philip at the Centennial Farm |
|
We are pausing for a few minutes until the next group of Kindergarten children come to meet the Centennial Farm oxen team. In the last seven years, teamster Philip has shown oxen to the more than 300,000 visitors to the Centennial Farm. What do you want to know about oxen? Patches and Freckles weigh 2,400 pounds, teamster Philip is not even close in weight. |

Patches and Freckles at the OC FAIR in 2010 |
|
Teamster Philip poses with Patches and Freckles at the 2010 OC FAIR. EAch animal weighs about 2,700 pounds and stands nearly 6 feet tall at the highest point in their spine. As large as they are they can still run nearly as fast as a horse and can easily jump over a four foot high fence. Oxen are rare in America, but all over the world people rely on oxen in order to produce their food. Patches and Freckles are American Lineback cattle breed. |

Clowning around at the 2010 Orange County Fair |
|
Teamster Philip is clowning around with his good friends at the 2010 Orange County Fair. These happy Fairgoers visited Patches and Freckles and helped place smiles on the faces of the crowd. This was my 8th year at the OC Fair as an oxen teamster. Somehow every year is better than the one before. Let's hope the 2011 Orange County Fair keeps that record going! |
